Ely Reynolds came to California in 2002 from a small town in Illinois to attend Golden State Baptist College. He majored in Pastoral Theology and graduated in May 2006. One month after graduation, he got married, and less than one month after that, he moved to Long Beach and came on staff as youth pastor.
On August 28, 2016, the church voted him as our new Pastor.
Cergio Torres was born and raised in the city of Long Beach. He graduated with a degree in Church Ministries at Golden State Baptist College in 2001. After college, he served at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Selma, California as Assistant Pastor and assisted in starting their first Spanish ministry. In 2003, the Lord called him back to his home church, First Baptist Church of Long Beach, where he served on staff as the Assistant Pastor and Youth Pastor. It was during that time he met his wife, Deborah, and was married in 2006. After 11 years of ministry, God called the Torres family to Gethsemane to oversee the Spanish ministry, bus ministry, and teach in the Christian School.
Doug was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up there. He belonged to a Christian family. After high school he went to Hyles-Anderson College in Hammond, Indiana where he received a bachelor of arts degree and a masterís degree. It was there he met and married his wife, Janet. They have four natural-born children, and one adopted (not officially) daughter.
He has served on the staffs of three different churches in California and one church in each of the states of Idaho and Utah. For the past twenty-three years, he has served with the fine people of Gethsemane Baptist Church. He presently oversees the Menís Ministry, teaches Firm Foundation, and drives a bus on Sundays. He also teaches Computer, Science and Yearbook in the high school.
Joshua Weldon was born into a Christian home and received Christ as his personal Savior on December 19, 1992. He started his education at Gethsemane Baptist Christian School in kindergarten and continued until his graduation from high school in 2005. He further pursued his education at Golden State Baptist College. He graduated from college in 2009 and received a Bachelor of Ministry degree with a Pastoral Assistant major. In May of 2010 he graduated with a Master of Ministry degree with a focus in Education. He returned to Gethsemane Baptist Church and joined the staff as assistant pastor and principal of Gethsemane Baptist Christian School in 2010.
